Dirk Baltzly is Professor of Philosophy at The University of Tasmania. He was previously Associate Professor in the School of Philosophy & Bioethics at Monash University. He has published on ancient Greco-Roman philosophy, ranging from the pre-Socratics to late antiquity. He has also written on virtue ethics, friendship, and ethical issues in sexuality. He was born in Ohio and educated at Ohio State University. Prior to moving to Australia in 1994, he worked at King's College London with the Ancient Commentators on Aristotle Project.
