Biography
Véronique Duché-Gavet is the A. R. Chisholm Professor of French at the University of Melbourne. Before coming to Australia in 2011 she was Professor of French Renaissance Studies at the University of Pau (France). She taught undergraduate subjects in French literature and linguistics (Middle Ages and Renaissance), and gave graduate seminars about genre. She also prepared students to the French concours (CAPES and Agrégation). Prior to this she taught French in high school as a Professeur agrégé de lettres modernes. Her considerable research and publication record centres on the interaction of French and Spanish literature in the Renaissance. She is recognised as one of the leading experts on the history of translation in fifteenth and sixteenth-century France.
