Professor Susanna Braund is one of the world’s most distinguished scholars of Latin literature. She has held appointments at the University of London, Yale University and Stanford University and since 2007 holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) at the University of British Columbia. Her research ranges widely across many genres in Latin literature, with particular strengths in satire, epic and tragedy. She is especially known for her work on the importance of translation, emotions and classical reception. Her forthcoming monograph for the Cambridge Press on the translations of Virgil across the centuries will be a study of major significance.
