Biography

Professor Neil is Professor of Ancient History at Macquarie University in the Department of History and Archaeology, where she is Director of Research and Innovation. She is Deputy Director of the Creative Documentary Research Centre at Macquarie and holds honorary positions as a Research Fellow in the Department of Biblical and Ancient Studies, University of South Africa and the Sydney College of Divinity. She is a fellow of the Von Humboldt-Stiftung and in 2018 was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Ottawa. She serves on the editorial boards of a number of international publications, including the series ‘Supplements to Vigiliae Christianae’ and the ‘Journal of Late Antiquity’. From 2020-2021 she was Executive Director of Humanities and Creative Arts at the Australian Research Council.
