Biography

Peter Hiscock is Tom Austen Brown Professor of Australian Archaeology in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sydney. Prior to that appointment he held a personal Chair at the ANU. He obtained a PhD from the University of Queensland.

Peter is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, a Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW, and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Museum.

His book Archaeology of Ancient Australia won the Mulvaney Book award in 2008. His research is focused on the evolution of ancient technology, particularly in prehistoric Australia .
