Biography
Wallace Kirsop taught French from 1962 to 1998 at Monash University, where he is still an Affiliate. He is the Publisher of the Ancora Press, which is attached to Monash’s School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics and which specializes in monographs on physical bibliography and book history. At the end of 2024 the Press published ‘From Convict Printers to Book Arcades’, volume 1 of ‘A History of the Book in Australia’ covering the period 1788-1890, co-edited by Kirsop, Elizabeth Webby and Judy Donnelly. Kirsop also continues to work on French book history, with a descriptive catalogue of the seventeenth-century editions of the plays of Jean de Rotrou (1609-1650) now being completed for publication in France.
