Biography

A graduate of both UTas and Monash Universities I have served as Professor in History at La Trobe University ( Charles La Trobe Professor) and at the University of Melbourne. I have been appointed to international visiting Professorships at Stockholm University and the University of Maryland. Between 2001 and 2002 I held the Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University. Between 2010 and 2014 Lake served as President of the Australian Historical Association. She has been elected to both the Australian Academies of Humanities and Social Sciences and the International Fellowship of the British Academy. Lake has published nationally, internationally and in the local press including 15 books, many prize-winning.
