Biography

John Poynter has been a Professorial Fellow at the Australian Centre at the University of Melbourne since 1995. Earlier positions at the University of Melbourne included Ernest Scott Professor of History, Dean of Arts, Chairman of the Professorial Board, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Music, Visual and Performing Arts. He was Australian Secretary for the Rhodes Trust, 1974-97.
