Robert White

Biography

Robert White is Emeritus Winthrop Professor and Senior Honorary Research fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA). He was a Chief Investigator in the Australian Research Council Centre for Excellence for the History of Emotions (2011-18). He graduated from the Universities of Adelaide (BA Hons and MA) and Balliol College Oxford (D.Phil) where he won the Charles Oldham Shakespeare Prize. He was Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne from 1974-87 before taking up the Chair of English at UWA. He is acknowledged as among the world’s top ranking scholars and critics in Shakespeare and Keats.
