Biography

John Vallance is a distinguished academic scholar, a powerful champion of the value of inclusive educational curriculum that embraces classical, Asian and Indigenous cultural elements, and a strong advocate for an enhanced role for cultural institutions, including schools, libraries and universities in the life of local and national communities. In his role as NSW State Librarian he has implemented a strategy of developing close links between the State Library and universities, learned societies and other cultural institutions, as a means of advancing scholarship, learning, and a deeper cultural awareness in the community as a whole.
