Biography

John Broome is an Honorary Professor of the Australian National University, Emeritus White’s Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford. Before moving to Oxford he was Professor of Philosophy at the University of St Andrews, and before that Professor of Economics at the University of Bristol. He works on normativity, rationality and reasoning, and also on the ethics of climate change. He was a lead author of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has held visiting posts at the University of Virginia, All Souls College Oxford, the Australian National University, Princeton University, the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study, the University of Canterbury, and Stanford University.
