Jane Hardie

Biography

Jane Morlet Hardie is currently an Honorary Associate at the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Sydney. A graduate of the University of Melbourne (B.Mus, M.Mus) She holds a Master’s degree in Library Science from Wayne State University, a PhD in Musicology from the University of Michigan, and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at Harvard University in 1999/2000. Author of several books and many articles on Spanish Renaissance Sacred Polyphony and Liturgical Chant, and Iberian manuscript and early printed sources, much of Hardie’s work focuses on issues of regional and local practice, and many of her publications in this area have influenced international scholarship on matters relating to liturgical geography, and the definition of local practices. She is currently engaged on a study of a group of Spanish liturgical music manuscripts at Sydney University.
