Biography

Jim Specht read archaeology at the University of Cambridge, and came to Australia in 1965 to pursue research for his PhD in Pacific archaeology. From 1970-71 he taught at Southern Illinois University, USA, and in 1971 took up a post at the Australian Museum, Sydney. He retired from the Museum in late 2000, but continues there as an Honorary research fellow.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Australian Academy of the Humanities recognises Australia’s First Nations Peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of this land, and their continuous connection to country, community and culture.
