Biography

Professor Foley has published extensively in the area of syntactic theory from a lexicalist approach and the role of semantics in syntax. His main area of specialisation is the usefulness of modern syntactic theories and he has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea. Professor Foley also works in the area of anthropological linguistics.
