Biography

Francis Moloney was educated at the University of Melbourne, and entered the Society of Saint Francis de Sales in 1960. He holds a Licentiate in Theology from the Salesian Pontifical Institute (Rome), and a Licence in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute (Rome). He is a Doctor of Philosophy within the University of Oxford. He holds a Doctor of Sacred Theology (Honoris Causa) from St Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, USA , and a Doctor of the University (Honoris Causa) from Australian Catholic University. He was the Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity, and Dean of the School of Theology and Religion, at the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He is a much-published and eminent New Testament scholar of international repute. As well as English, he has published in German, Italian, French, Polish, Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese. He is currently the Rector of Salesian College, “Rupertswood,” Sunbury, Victoria, Australia.
