Biography

Brian Nelson is a specialist in French literature and cultural history of the 19th and 20th centuries. He is best known for his translations and critical studies of the novels of mile Zola. Recent publications include mile Zola: A Very Short Introduction (2020) and The Cambridge Introduction to French Literature (2015). Since 2020 he has been engaged, as co-editor and contributing translator, on a new edition of Proust’s A la recherche du temps perdu for Oxford World’s Classics.
