Biography

James O’Connell is a leading prehistorian and Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Director of the Archaeological Center, Anthropology Department, at the University of Utah. He has held visiting positions at Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University, and La Trobe University. His work focuses on evolutionary ecology and the application of theoretical models to the understanding of human evolution.
