Biography

Malcolm Ross conducts research in Austronesian and Papuan linguistics, and in historical linguistics, particularly methodology and contact-induced change. His current research projects include the Oceanic Lexicon Project, the Papuan Comparative Linguistics Project, focusing on the prehistory of the Papuan languages of the Trans New Guinea family, reconstructing the histories of languages which have undergone contact-induced change, and reconstructing the prehistory of the Austronesian language family (especially its morphosyntactic prehistory). He is also researching change and continuity in grammatical constructions.
