Vale Emeritus Professor Alan Frost FRHistS FAHA 1943 – 2023

The Australian Academy of the Humanities has only just heard the sad news of the death of Emeritus Professor Alan Frost FRHistS FAHA, a distinguished scholar and writer.

Elected to the Academy in 1990, Alan made a valuable contribution to European Imperial history and exploration, particularly in relation to the British occupation of Australia. His substantive digital archive relating to the colonisation of Australia, comprising over 2500 documents gathered from across the world, was acquired by the State Library of New South Wales in 2014.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.

An obituary is being prepared and will be available in due course.
